Medeksa Black

Charred larch

Dark, deep black shade inspired by the traditional Shou Sugi Ban burnt wood surface. In Medeksa Black larch cladding, the grain becomes a subtle relief – curves and layers are revealed not through colour contrast, but through the interplay of surface texture and light. Medeksa Black has a strong aesthetic and is often chosen for creating contrast, particularly when paired with warmer tones such as Medeksa Sand or Medeksa Ember. An excellent choice for facades, terraces, and interiors where clean lines and solidity matter.

Finishing
Coated twice with water-based wood oil, color: Medeksa Black

The wood-brushing process subtly highlights the natural texture of the wood, but in dark shades, such as Medeksa Black, this effect is more subdued. At the same time, such surfaces typically require less frequent maintenance compared to light, double-brushed colors (e.g., Medeksa Sand).

Due to lighting conditions during photography and display settings, the shade shown in the photos may differ from the actual product.

Care outdoors

  • Clean periodically with a damp, soft brush or cloth, or rinse with water without pressure.
  • Avoid pressure washing and aggressive chemical cleaners – they can damage the surface.
  • To keep the original colour, re-oil with the same oil used in production: decking every 1-3 years, facades every 5-7 years.

Gradual colour change over time is a natural process, not a defect.

Care indoors

  • Wipe the surface periodically with a dry or slightly damp brush or cloth
  • We recommend avoiding harsh cleaning agents
  • Due to minimal environmental impact, colour change is minimal – re-oil only if you wish to refresh the look, the exact frequency is highly individual

Gradual colour change over time is a natural process, not a defect.

The deepest shade in our palette is also the easiest to combine. Many of our most striking projects pair Medeksa Black with a second, warmer or lighter shade – on an accent wall, a fence or window surrounds.
