What is Medeksa and what do we do?
Medeksa is a company based in Lithuania that manufactures charred wood products inspired by Japanese traditions. We create high-quality, durable, and sustainable solutions for facades, terraces, fences, and interiors, and we work with both business clients (architects, construction companies, and project developers) and individual clients throughout Europe.
We specialize in burnt wood for facades and terraces, where aesthetic appeal, naturalness, and resistance to environmental factors are of particular importance.
How do we make charred wood?
Our production is based on the traditional Japanese Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban) technique, which has been adapted to meet European standards using modern equipment. The wood is first carefully selected, then carbonized under controlled conditions to create a protective carbon layer, and after burning, the planks are brushed. The extent to which the wood is brushed depends on the look the customer wishes to achieve, and finally, the product is coated with oil, which provides additional protection against UV rays and moisture, as well as color. This process creates a durable, aesthetically pleasing, and low-maintenance product suitable for both modern and traditional architecture.
